Inspiration is about visual merchandising, shop design, retail events, window display.
We were "born" nearly 50 years ago in Zurich, Switzerland. Until 1989, when the publishing rights were sold, the original editorial team worked out of Atlanta, USA. The new publisher's domicile being again Zurich, the magazine's headquarters returned to Switzerland.
The communication opportunities for show-window displayers or show-window designers, known in the early days as decorators or window dressers was limited and sporadic. The emergence of Inspiration closed an information gap to such an extent that an animated exchange of illustrative material was able to take off around the world. The global flow of information has remained lively to this day. The desire to be continually up-to-date, paramount in the store-building and visual-merchandising sector, is apparently still with us. Naturally, the environment in which all this takes place has changed considerably over the past three decades, and so has the exchange of information. The internet is influencing our everyday life. We receive more and more queries, suggestions, offers and data via e-mail. Furthermore, websites worldwide are being consulted as a source of additional information and our own new site provides more information, easy access for those who prefer an information online or those who wish to use our archive.
